Everyday around 250 to 300 banana pseudostems are collected from the plantations and taken to the Happy Faces Foundation production unit located in Karnali.
After the banana fruits are harvested, the pseudostems (false leaves) are left behind which would go to waste.
Happy Faces Foundation collaborates with the local farmers to utilize these banana pseudostems to produce organic liquid nutrient as an alternate to artificial fertilizers.
There are plenty of banana plantations at Karnali, Dharsimel, Maninageshwar and other towns in and around Vadodara and Narmada District of Gujarat
Each banana pseudostem is composed of about 85% organic material – a mix of liquid and fibre
which is full of rich, nutritional value.

Happy Faces Foundation aims to encourage farmers and agriculturists to use this organic, natural and cheaper alternative to artificial, chemical fertilizers. There are 7 digesters with 5000kl capacity of each.
