Visual Arts at Abhivyakti ~ #HFFArchives | May 2019

Pramila (an FM at the textile department at National Institute of Design) engaged with the artisans at Happy Faces Foundation to co-create the installation “Minute Mould” at Abhivyakti.

Abhiyakti is an arts initiative curated for the city. It is about bringing together a variety of performing and visual arts, conceptualized to create a unique experience.

The installation underlined the depleting personal human interaction with regard to an increasing reliance on virtual communication. The work created all in crimson-amber, reminded one of a Bhunga, the traditional Kutch house.

The Mould was crafted at our Ahmedabad workshop using scraps from a t-shirt factory and Macrame – the art of knotting. The artisans participated in the crafting process and were involved in problem solving and innovating an art installation of this scale.

They had seating on the inside to make one easy on the floor and to instill that feeling of sitting in leisure with your loved ones!

The Visual Arts segment came across as the most experimental side of the fest, hence becoming one of our favorite memories to look back at!
